About Us

 Welcome to Troop 876!

Troop 876 was officially established on February 2nd, 2019. As one of the first all-girl BSA troops in America, we had some big expectations to live up to.

We started scouting right away with our first campout at Prince William Forest that very weekend. Since then we've hiked throughout the Appalachians, visited historic battlefields, canoed and rafted the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, biked along the C&O Canal, attended summer camp in three states, and completed five 7- to 12-day high adventure trips, including canoeing the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, living on a deserted island off the coast of Florida, and backpacking in the Trinity Alps of Northern California and twice at Philmont Scout Reservation in the southern Rocky Mountains of New Mexico.

Troop 876 started out with 12 members and has grown to over 40. We welcome budding scouts from across the Colonial area to attend our meetings, and the scouts welcome visitors with a smile and invitation to join us in our next adventure.

We have girls at all different steps in their scouting journey, from those with little or no experience in the outdoors to Eagle Scouts comfortable in remote wilderness settings. Our more seasoned scouts happily guide new members as they learn the ropes.

We are very lucky to have the support of Wesley United Methodist Church, who generously house our meetings and gear. To give thanks we help out whenever we can, doing service projects and assisting with Scout Sunday.

Our troop is "scout led", meaning the scouts choose, plan, and run the activities. Adults are always present to ensure safety, but the meetings, camp outs, and all events are organized and led by the scouts.

Our troop is proud to be a part of Scouts BSA, the flagship program of Scouting America.
